We are looking for a Financial Controller who can engage, guide and inspire with a hands on and collaborative approach to facilitate and drive the finance function for pre -opening final stages at MAMAKA.   

The Gig - Financial Controller 

Reporting to General Manager along with working with a small finance team and have full accountability for the accuracy of the financial reporting and management and provide sound financial leadership to the organisation. This position requires working knowledge of accounting disciplines such as, financial accounting, compliance reporting and budget preparation as well as systems development and improvement, where appropriate. Critical to the position is strong interpersonal skills, effective communication both verbal and written and maintaining a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality. You will be considered a pivotal part of the Senior leadership Team. 

Key Duties

  • Preparation of accounts & reconciliation of balance sheets
  • Weekly &Month end reporting, cash flow projection
  • Business modelling & forecasting
  • Preparation of all tax documentation - local and national
  • Monthly commentaries for General Manager
  • Cashflow forecasting
  • Maintenance of the fixed assets
  • Providing full financial support to Hotel General Manager and Department Managers including management reports, commentary and analysis
  • Play a key role in driving the financial performance of the business
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders leading process improvements
  • Ensure statutory compliance with the organisations policies and values, regulations and practices and external audit and tax compliance requirement

To be successful you need to be a Financial Controller who is passionate about making a difference and understanding the information and analysis you provide is vital in supporting the Hotel Management and leadership team in driving better organisational performance. You could be someone ready to take that next step up who is looking for an autonomous role and who is commercially focused. Comfortable working at both an operational and strategic level you need to be able to deliver on multiple projects simultaneously.  

  • Diploma or Degree in Commerce or Finance and preferably CA/CPA qualified
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a finance role preferably within the hospitality sector
  • Strong management accounting skills with the ability to understand and drive operational requirements alongside financial requirements
  • Strong intellect and problem solving
  • Ability to grasp operational issues and work closely with operational managers
  • Capable of working within tight timeframes
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as liaise with internal/external stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Strategic thinking – ability to understand broad business issues and provide strategic business recommendations
